Thanks to everyone for a great season.  We finished strong yesterday with a win for both our girls and boys teams.  We hope everyone enjoyed the season and hope to see all 6th and 7th graders back again next year.  Don't forget about the XC team for next fall as well!  Enjoy the summer and thanks for all of your support.

Below is an additional opportunity for families who would like to continue running throughout the summer.  It is a community track team that meets a few times a week.  It is a great opportunity for athletes to further develop and also provides the chance for a few additional meets.  Information can be found below.

Wayland Middle School Track and Field Athletes,

Congratulations on a great season!

If you'd like to continue your season, come join a number of your teammates with the Nitehawks Sports Club.  We meet most Mondays and Thursdays from 6:00PM to 7:30PM at the Wayland High School track, and our activities include:
  • Running events from 100m to the Mile, plus Hurdles
  • Long Jump, Triple Jump, and High Jump
  • Shot Put and Turbo Javelin
In addition to practices, we have dual meets with teams in Westford and other locations, along with the following large (600+ athletes) meets:
  • US Association of Track and Field (USATF) New England Junior Olympics on Saturday, June 17th at Fitchburg State University (top 8 in each event can go on to Regionals, and top 5 from Regionals can go on to Nationals)
  • Needham Youth Classic on Friday, July 14th and Saturday, July 15th (including teams from throughout the Northeast)
The cost is $50 covering practices from now until Thursday, July 13th, along with a singlet.  Participation in the Junior Olympics does require USATF membership - which is inexpensive and is well worth it for anyone interested in track and field (it includes a magazine and lots of additional helpful info).

Nitehawks practices are led by USATF-certified coaches who will help you become a better runner, jumper, and thrower - we hope you can make every practice, but if you need to miss some for any reason that's fine (we know it's summer...).

If you have any questions, or to sign up, contact Alex Ivanov at or Mark Foreman at, and feel free to join us at any practice to try us out (e-mail ahead to let us know you are coming in case practice is moved).  We hope to see you 'round the track!

The order of events will be:
